Jones Beach is always a special place for the Allman Brothers Band, and this show was no exception! Extended jams were the theme of this intense, powerful performance, with the band taking some of their best jam vehicles out for a spin and taking them to uncharted territory.
The band started strong with "Done Somebody Wrong" and "Hot'Lanta" before a great "Ain't Wastin' Time No More" kicked it up a notch. "Rockin' Horse" was where this show really took off, with Derek's solo reaching another plane and the whole band hittin' the note! This song continues to grow and develop into one of the best jams in the ABB arsenal.
Another extended jam that goes the extra mile is this expansive version of "Revival," with great solos from everybody. Gregg is really belting it out on "Stormy Monday" at this show, singing with the vigor of a man half his age.
The crowning achievement of this night has to be the epic "Elizabeth Reed" with former Allman Brother Jimmy Herring joining in on guitar. One fan described the interplay between Jimmy, Warren and Derek as "guitar heaven." Check out the heavenly noise for yourself, and prepare to be blown away!
