Only three shows in, the ABB/Panic tour is picking up steam! A creative setlist and hot playing make this another outstanding performance by the Allman Brothers Band.
There weren't many guest appearances by the Widespread crew tonight, but the ABB delivered a show that proves they don't need any help to get the job done! The opening combo of "Don't Want You No More" and "Not My Cross To Bear" was crisp and packed a punch, showing that the band was taking no prisoners tonight.
"Hoochie Coochie Man" and "No One To Run With" featured extended jams that saw Derek and Warren really shine, while the rare "Gambler's Roll" showcased Gregg Allman's soulful vocals. "Every Hungry Woman" was played for the first time on the tour, and the whole band was hittin' the note on this one!
There was one song with guests, a smoldering version of "Who's Been Talking" with Jimmy Herring and JoJo Hermann from Panic sitting in on guitar and keys. The sequence of "Come and Go Blues," "Statesboro Blues" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" put the spotlight back on Gregg's voice, weathered and gruff but so sweet at the same time.
Then there is the "Mountain Jam>Smokestack Lightning>Mountain Jam" extravaganza. Have mercy!
