The Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic hit the Lone Star State with the force of Texas tornado! This action-packed show is full of power and grace, with many memorable moments.
"Statesboro Blues" is always a fun, high-energy opener, and this gets the show off to a running start. The extended jam version of "No One To Run With" has come a long way since the band changed the arrangement in 2007, and there are lots of juicy jams, hot solos and thrilling group dynamics in this one. "Who's Been Talking" is another recent addition to the rotation that has grown into a highlight of any ABB show, it's slinky bossa nova beat and anguished lyrics about love gone wrong fitting perfectly into the Allman Brothers universe.
John Bell of Widespread Panic joined the band for Bob Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited," which rocks and swings and sounds so good! "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad" was played for the first time on the tour, showing the ABB mixing up the setlists right to the very end of the tour. Check out the guitar interplay between Derek and Warren at the end of this jam!
Gregg Allman was sounding particularly strong at this show. Check out the double encore of "Melissa" and "Whipping Post" and marvel at his vocals, which go from sweet and tender on the first song to an anguished, hellhound-on-my-trail howl on the second. Nobody can deliver a song like Gregg!
In a tour full of superlatives, the band keeps raising the bar with each show!
